Dev Diary #3 - Dungeon sketches
Hi, my name is Lark and I’m a mobile game producer.
Keywords for today’s diary: dungeons, graphic design sketches.
In Dragon Gold’s game world, there exists a dungeon with multi-floor of space. The ecological environment of each floor is very different, and as a result, it breeds different types of monsters. For the dungeon map design, I wanted visual differentiation, while leaving the floors connected to each other. For example, I’ve set 1F, 2F, 3F and 4F to the theme of “Gluttony”, the adventurers will gradually uncover the secrets behind the gluttony and eventually defeat the brutal bosses.
Now, studio members are working on a 3D model of the dungeon
and it will take some time before it is finished. I figured I could start today by putting up two sketches of the floor plan to show you.
Before that, a brief overview of the dungeon features of Dragon Gold
● There are many floors, and there will be some story relevance between the floors, as I mentioned before.
● The dungeons are 3D, so you can observe monster behavior, as well as some dynamic environments.
● There will be many forks in the dungeon to determine where to go via the spinning slots.
● The dungeons aren’t just for fighting, you may also find treasures or trigger hidden scenarios.
On the second floor
The monster species are predominantly ogres, which I define as an aggressive and overeating race. Adventurers may wander into the Ogre Nest and encounter a vicious battle, or they may gain some story clues at the Small Altar.
On the third floor
This floor is very interesting. You’ll see the Armored Beast that have been bred to be the mounts of certain ogres. There is a strange room where plants are cultivated that are somewhat similar to the Armored Beast’s forage. Another room reveals plants that have long since mutated and Glowing Cavern in the ground that lead to what?
Obviously, I’m not going to reveal all the secrets at once, some of them will be explained later, more of them need to be experienced by yourselves in the game. Well, that’s it for today, thanks for watching.
